How to Delete Telemetry Data in Mozilla Firefox?

Earlier this week, Mozilla announced that it will allow Firefox users to delete all telemetry data collected to date to comply with the new California Consumer Privacy Act. This feature became available with the Firefox version 72 update, and today we’re going to take a look at how we can delete them.

What is Telemetry Data?

For the uninitiated, telemetry data refers to interaction data and technical data collected by the browser. Interaction data includes information such as the number of tabs and windows you have opened, the number of web pages you have visited, the length of your browsing session, and the type of Firefox add-ons you have installed.

On the other hand, technical data refers to information about your browser’s version, language, operating system you are using, and your computer’s hardware features and error logs.

Note: Before you begin, make sure you have updated your Firefox browser to the latest version. The method works in Firefox 72 and above. If you are unsure of your Firefox version, you can check it in Help -> About Firefox, accessible from the hamburger menu in the upper-right corner of your Firefox browser.
