Bixby is Samsung’s new virtual assistant similar to Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant. And while it has a lot to offer, some will want to turn it off. Here’s how to disable Bixby once and for all.
Earlier this year Samsung added an option to disable Bixby, but it didn’t work as expected. It blocked the app from opening or triggering voice commands, but your phone still turns on and wakes up when you press the button. This was not an ideal solution.

How to Completely Disable Bixby Button on Samsung Galaxy Phones
Disabling the Bixby button is extremely easy as long as you have the latest Samsung version of the app. Launch Bixby and you will see a popup for the update. If not, you can manually update Bixby. Open your app tray and find Samsung’s Galaxy Apps store. Tap and tap on the top right, then select and ““. You must have updates for Bixby, Bixby Home, and Bixby Service. These will likely update automatically. If so, continue with the steps below to disable Bixby.
Disable the Bixby Button for Good
Once you have the latest version of the Bixby app, it is very easy to disable it. The latest version as of now is 2.0.03.3. If the update is not available, download here. After updating the app, there is a slider toggle tab at the top to turn Bixby Key off. Turn the key to position.

That’s it, Bixby is gone forever. The button does nothing and basically wastes space on your phone. Unfortunately, the Samsung Bixby button on the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Galaxy Note 8 cannot be customized. We hope Samsung allows some customization in the near future. So we can use it as a dedicated camera button or to launch Google Assistant. For now, Bixby or nothing.

Disable Bixby Home and Other Details
In closing, there is one more step if you want to completely disable Bixby on your phone. Getting rid of the Bixby panel on your home screen. Swipe all the way to the left and you’ll be greeted with a Bixby landing page full of information.
Press and hold any empty space on your home screen. The screen will zoom out to an edit mode where you can change wallpapers and the like. Swipe far left until you land on Bixby. Now disable Bixby using the slider at the top of the screen. Hit the home button and we’re done. Now you have successfully disabled Bixby on your home screen and turned the button off completely.
