If you recently upgraded to Apple’s version budget iPhone XR From an old iPhone, you may not know how to properly close your phone’s apps.
If you’ve ever owned an iPhone 8, iPhone 7, or an older iPhone model, you’re used to closing your apps with the home button.
Like the iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, and iPhone X, the iPhone XR doesn’t have a physical home button, which means you have to use screen gestures to close your apps.
This may seem a little intimidating at first, but it will only take you a few days to get used to the new process. We’ll walk you through this guide. And after doing this a few times, muscle memory should take over.
Here’s how to close apps on iPhone XR.
To close apps on iPhone XR, you need to use screen gestures.
How to Close Apps on iPhone XR
If you want to close an app on your iPhone XR, you must turn on the App Switcher function on your phone. This is how you do it:
- While on the home screen or in an app, swipe up from the bottom of your iPhone XR’s screen and hold for a second. Release App Switcher and when you see your app cards.
- While in the App Switcher, you can scroll through the apps open on your phone by swiping left and right.
- If you want to close an app, simply swipe up from the app card.
Closing your apps probably won’t improve your iPhone XR’s battery life, but it can improve your device’s performance, especially if you’re using Background Refresh.
With Background Refresh enabled, your apps run in the background, which can negatively impact your phone’s performance if not managed properly.
