While Chrome OS is hailed as a simple and easy-to-use operating system, and that’s true, sometimes you just don’t know where to find the most basic information. For example, there is no property page or system information viewer that lets you check the storage space on your Chromebook. There are other methods, but these are unnecessarily roundabout ways. However, in this article, we have detailed multiple methods to check the remaining storage space on Chromebook along with the available free space. Using the Local Files App
1. The easiest way to check storage space on a Chromebook is to use the Files app. After opening the Files app, click the 3-dot menu in the upper right corner and will show the remaining storage space It’s at the bottom on your Chromebook.
2. If you want to know the total storage space, click on the available space, it will take you to the Settings page. Here you will find a complete overview of where storage is used in Chrome OS. if you Add ‘In Use’ and ‘Available’, you will get the total storage space on your device. For example, mine is 64GB.
Check Storage using Chrome URL
Alternatively, you can open one of the hidden Chrome URLs to check the remaining or free storage space. copy and paste chrome://quota-internals
in Chrome and hit enter. here, you will See section “Free disk space for profile directory”It is the current storage remaining on your Chromebook.
Use Third Party App to Check Storage Space
Finally, you can Install the Cog app (free) to find Total storage of your Chromebook. After installation, scroll down and you will find the “External Storage” section. This is the total storage space available on your Chrome OS device. Strangely enough, the Cog app shows a total of 59GB of space on my Chromebook, but it actually has 64GB of internal storage. This may be because the app hasn’t received an update since 2018.
