How to Check Battery Health on OnePlus Devices

After the “BatteryGate” debacle, Apple released a new feature that shows users the battery health of their iOS and iPadOS devices. It included the same battery health feature on Macs with macOS Big Sur. As much as I hate Apple for hiding their apps, I’m glad that users can now check the battery health of their Apple devices.

I love this new feature and therefore I am very upset that Android does not natively support this feature. I don’t understand why companies are suing for providing more information to users of the devices they own. Fortunately, OnePlus does not expect Google to release this feature. In this article, I will show you how you can check battery health on OnePlus devices.

Check Battery Health on OnePlus Devices

To check battery health on your OnePlus smartphone, We will use the OnePlus Diagnostic app. The app comes pre-installed on newer OnePlus devices. But if you don’t have it on your device, you can install it manually. For this article, we’ll assume you don’t have the app installed on your device to cover all the basics. However, here are the steps:

Note: Make sure unknown APK installation is enabled on your phone. To do this go to Settings -> Apps & notifications -> Special app access -> Install unknown apps and enable the feature for the browser you will be using to download the APK.

1. OnePlus Diagnostic app is not available on Play Store so we will sideload the app. To sideload the OnePlus Diagnostic app, Click here to download the APK.

2. After the download is complete, tap on the APK and confirm the installation.

2 Install OnePlus Diagnostic

3. Launch the application and Tap on “View battery status”. Here you will see your phone’s battery under “Battery status”.

Know When to Replace Your OnePlus Smartphone’s Battery

This is a useful feature that will help you know when you need to replace the battery on your OnePlus device. If the condition looks healthy or normal (above 80% capacity), you don’t need to replace your battery. When it starts to show weak (or below 75%), you should seriously consider replacing the battery to preserve the performance and longevity of your device.

The app works on all OnePlus smartphones running Android 6.0 or higher. This means it will work on all OnePlus smartphones released on and after the OnePlus 3. So, whether you are using the OnePlus 5, OnePlus 6, OnePlus 6T or the latest OnePlus 8 Pro, it will work.
