Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 is great for some users. Tablets, laptops, and desktops benefit from a unified way to access many of the settings that Windows users will come in contact with most when using a device powered by the operating system. Of course, Microsoft has also made the old ways of changing settings a bit obscure by introducing a new way of doing things. For example, let’s take changing your password in Windows 8.1.
In the past, users could go to the Windows Control Panel and click Users to update their passwords and other account information. They can still do it, but here’s how to change your password and avoid the desktop altogether in Windows 8.1.
go to start screen by pressing the Windows key on your desktop, tablet or laptop.

Click or tap on Settings.
Click or tap Change computer settings.
Click or tap Accounts In the menu on the left side of your screen. Second from the top.
click Login Options.
Enter your current password in the pop-up window so your device can verify who you are. then click Next.
Once you are allowed in and Windows has verified your old password, you will need to re-enter your old password. You will also need to enter your new password twice. then click Next.
click Finish.
You have successfully entered a new password for your Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 device. It is important to note that Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 are tied to the user’s Microsoft Account. Therefore, changing the password in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 also changes the password for any Outlook.com Mail, Xbox Live account, SkyDrive storage account, and other services supported by a Microsoft Account.
The same does not apply to users who have configured their Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 machine without a Microsoft Account. Changing the password on their machine will not affect other Microsoft products, as these users create what is called a Local Account. You can tell the difference between each by searching for an email address on the login screen or password change screen.
