If for some reason you want to change the font you have on your device because the installed one does not suit you, fortunately it is possible to change it. Android lets you change all kinds of things, and font is naturally one of them. However, it is not necessarily simple and may require getting your hands dirty to achieve it. We start with the first method, which does not require rooting the device.
Method 1: Change font without root
Via settings.
Increasingly, overlays on Android devices allow for quick and easy replacement of fonts. This is especially true in Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, and even LG and HTC, which is the method that concerns Samsung.
To change your phone’s font, nothing could be easier than this, go to: “Settings” back then “view” and bass “Police” :
You can now choose the font that suits you or get other fonts online, You’ll find plenty of them on the Play Store.

Via an alternative launcher
For example, you can go through an alternative launcher that offers to make such changes simply. Go Launcher is an excellent example, changes will only be considered in the launcher and unfortunately this does not concern the entire operating system, for example settings menus.
- Copy your fonts in TTF format to your smartphone or via another app
- In ‘Tools’ then go to ‘preferences’
- Then go to “font”
- Finally, choose the font you want by pressing “select font”.
All changes later immediately taken care of, no need to restart your smartphone. It is also possible to download other applications that offer more options in terms of fonts. While this alternative is particularly attractive as it doesn’t require any complex manipulations, the downside is that it’s not applicable to all Android. Fortunately, there are other methods that we detail in our file that offer more flexibility in terms of customization.
Via iFont for Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei devices
This application allows you to change the font of your smartphone, it works without root for Samsung, Xiaomi, Meizu, Huawei smartphones, for others you need to be rooted, but we will explain it to you below.
First download the app:
Once the app is downloaded, open it, then simply navigate through the app, once you find what you’re looking for, click on it and then download it.
Then install it there.
Finally, on Samsung for example, the app will ask you to install the font as an app, if you haven’t authorized unknown sources yet, now is the time to do so. Once this is done go back to settings and you will see your new font.
You can also copy TTF (TrueTypeFont) fonts from your computer to the folder. /sdcard/ifont/custom. These fonts will appear in the Custom tab. However, you must have a rooted device to be able to install and use these fonts.

Method 2: Change the font by rooting your smartphone
If you don’t have the option in your settings you will need to root your smartphone, here we teach you how. After that few apps will let you change the font of your Android smartphone, we will tell you about 2 best apps for that.
WARNING : Your device must be rooted to install and change fonts. Also, such manipulation is not without risk and neither I nor Moyens I/O will be responsible for any problems that may arise as a result of this tutorial.
iFont
Let’s start with the one mentioned above from iFont. The latter is probably the most complete and best practice for changing your font. The procedure is roughly the same as described above:
- Tap on the font of your choice
- push button download
- press on Set
- If you have a request to set the mod System Modepress on OK.
- Your device will reboot to apply the new font.
If you prefer to use a font that you have downloaded to your smartphone, then you must:
- Press the “My” tab
- Then go to “My Font”
- Find your font in TTF format, then install as described above.
Here you have thousands of possibilities at your disposal to further customize your smartphone according to your wishes at the moment.
HiFont
As for iFont, it doesn’t necessarily have to be root, but if you use it as root, it offers many more possibilities. It is most popular in Play Storebut it also contains the most fonts, but unfortunately also the most ads… and unlike iFont, there is no paid version to remove ads.
- Tap on the font of your choice
- push button download
- press on worn
- The application will automatically choose the best way to install the font.
- Your device will reboot to apply the new font.
FontFix
The application, formerly called Font Installer, is also easy to use and very ergonomic. In the end, to change your font along with other applications, the choice is made according to the fonts offered by the applications. FontFix is practical in that it allows you to quickly visualize what the font will look like.
To install a font open the app then swipe or search for the font you want and click on it. Once done, press the most circles.
Then do the “setup” and let the app restart your smartphone.
To manually install a font, press the plus and circle on the homepage and then find your font in your folders.
