How to Change Ringtones on Moto G

When the first Moto G was announced in 2013, the smartphone instantly gained popularity, offering great features and a good design at a wallet-friendly price. It was an instant hit and has since become Motorola’s most popular smartphone ever. As a result, millions of first-time smartphone buyers own the Moto G and have many questions. Here we explain the easy task of changing the ringtone on your Moto G.

With a contract-free low price of just $179, the Moto G offers a lot to consumers, as does the new 2014 Moto G for the same price and with a larger 5-inch screen. Its design and price made it popular, and now that it has millions of users, many questions are asked. It has a powerful quad-core processor, dual front-facing speakers, runs the latest version of Android, and has a lot to offer.

Android smartphones come with a set of pre-installed ringtones that users can easily change with just a few taps in the settings, and below explains how easy it is to change them. We’ll also detail how to create your own custom ringtones and add them to custom contacts so you can know who’s calling just by ringtone. It’s something that’s hard to do on older regular phones, which is a breeze on Android powered devices like the Moto G.

If you’ve owned or used an Android device in the last few years, you’ll be at home and probably won’t even have to look for how to do it. However, if you’re new to smartphones like the Moto G or an Android convert from iPhone below, here’s how to set custom ringtones or change the ringtone on your Moto G.

With the Moto G, you can create custom ringtones from your own music using the guide above, or download one of the millions of options from popular apps like Zedge. Once you’ve done that (or if you just want to use the pre-loaded tones), here’s how to do it. This is a beginner’s guide to change ringtones

Instructions

You will have to go to the settings menu which can be accessed in two ways on your Moto G. Swipe down from the top notification bar with two fingers and tap the gear-shaped settings icon. This or go to the app tray and find the settings app. From here, scroll down and click ““.

From here you will see an option listed as “Phone Ringtone” and simply tap on it to see, browse, preview and finally select one of over 30 different ringtones for your Moto G.

Once you find someone you like or add from apps or make your own, tap the ringtone you want and hit OK. You’re done. It’s that easy. The settings menu is very simple, easy to understand and has all the necessary settings needed to change anything and everything on your device. Screen brightness, notifications, sounds, keyboard touch sounds and more.

In the same Sounds and notifications settings menu, you’ll also see a “Default notification ringtone” option below the regular ringtone selection. This is where you set a notification sound for all other incoming notifications. Things like text messages, emails and more. You can do the same steps as above and choose from the many options Motorola offers right out of the box.

Next, the “Other sounds” option is where you can control keypad tones, screen lock sounds, screen touch sounds (which I disabled) and vibrate on touch setting. There’s tons to see and find, and if you’re new to smartphones or the Moto G, we suggest you take a look at the settings and familiarize yourself with everything. Unless you’ve done some research and don’t know what you’re changing, don’t change settings you’re not familiar with.

Now make some custom ringtones and even set certain songs for individual contacts to make your device even more personal and customized. These steps are the same for almost all Android devices. Enjoy!
