There’s a lot of stuff in Google’s Android operating system, but none of them are as important to the Android experience as the customization options. It’s up to users to decide how their Android powered smartphones look. Cleverly, Moto does not interfere with this choice. You decide how your Moto Z looks. You can choose full control through the launchers or decide to change the Moto Z wallpaper and lock screen message. This is seriously easy to do.
The Moto Z doesn’t use proprietary software or come pre-populated with a skin that runs on top of Google’s operating system. Instead, Moto’s preferred software customizations are built into the phone and updated via apps. Changing the Moto Z wallpaper works just like any other Android device that is mostly clean. As for the lock screen message, you’ll want to add one to give yourself a chance to recover if you misplace your device.
Here is how to change Moto Z wallpaper and lock screen message.
How to Change Moto Z Lock Screen Message
Let’s start by changing the Moto Z lock screen message. Again, having a neat lock screen message with an emergency contact can be the key to recovering your phone if it’s lost. Since this message can be anything, you don’t have to use it for this purpose. You can add a quote or funny message that makes you smile every time you see it.
Go to the Settings app on your Moto Z. You can do this by swiping down from the top edge of your Moto Z’s screen to bring up the notification shade area. Tap the gray part of the notification shade to open quick settings access. Now tap on the Settings cog in the top right corner of your screen.
Welcome to the Settings app. Do not scroll down or select a category. Instead, tap the search button in the upper-right corner of the Settings app and enter “lock screen.” Tap on the “Choose screen lock” option.
Tap now. It is the fourth item from the top in the screenshot below.
Type your new Moto Z lock screen message and press . From this point on, anything you enter in the field will appear on your phone while it’s locked. This applies regardless of what security method you use on your device.
How to Change Moto Z Wallpaper
Your Moto Z wallpaper cannot be changed directly from the Settings app. Wallpapers are part of the launcher you are using. Again, the Moto Z uses the Google Assistant Launcher. This keeps your device clean and allows them to deliver updates quickly.
This also means that you will likely find the process of changing your Moto Z wallpaper familiar. Unlock your Moto Z.
Now place your finger anywhere on the home screen that is not currently an app icon. Do not move your finger until you feel your Moto Z vibrate in your hands.
You should now have a zoomed in view of your default home screen and any extra home screens you added. This is the home screen customization area. Tap the option on the far left of your screen.
Use the first button on the left to explore the photos you’ve taken yourself. Running right off the screen are the two Moto Z wallpapers Moto added to Android. All the default wallpapers in the Android version installed on your Moto Z are to the right of these two wallpapers. If you keep swiping the pictures left, you will come across Live Wallpapers of Android. Live Wallpapers are animated. They vary according to the input and phone movement.
Note that you don’t have to rely on the pictures you take or the wallpapers pre-installed on your device. Head to the Google Play Store for apps that will give you even more wallpapers. You can also download images from your favorite sites on the web by browsing and saving them via Google Chrome. While browsing the web, hold your finger on any image you want to save. For the best experience, you’ll want an appropriately sized photo. The Moto Z’s 5.5-inch Quad HD display can show a lot of detail.
After choosing a wallpaper, tap in the upper left corner of your screen.
Now whatever you choose will appear behind your app shortcuts, Google bar and widgets in the main area. Google Now Launcher doesn’t have separate settings for lock screen wallpaper and home page wallpaper, so you should still see the background you selected when your Moto Z is locked.
Good luck with your Moto Z.
