Let’s face it: some of us are so busy these days—with pandemics, presidential elections, and attempts to overthrow the government—that we don’t pay enough attention to what we subscribe to (and pay for). Especially now that there are more streaming services vying for our attention, deciding to go for a trial subscription or subscribe “for just a few months” and then forget completely. . Meanwhile, your payment card is pinged every month.
For example, artist Matthew Inman, who created the comic book site Rolled oatsrecently (obviously regretfully) reported that for the past 13 years, Netflix has been paying for DVD subscriptions:
Today Netflix was kind enough to let me know that I had accidentally paid for a DVD subscription for TIRTEEN FUCKING YEAR.
I’ve been renting fictitious DVDs ever since.

(For our younger readers: yes, Netflix started as a DVD rental service and then moved on to the streaming service it is today.)
So, especially if your income is a little tight, it might be a good idea to check your current streaming subscriptions and drop any subscriptions you haven’t used in a few months. (After all, unless you’re a particularly good-deal grandpa—and that’s becoming less and less common these days—if there’s something you want to watch on the service, you can always start over.)
One thing to be aware of: during the process of canceling a streaming service, you may have to go through several pages or pop-ups urging you not to cancel, or at least settle for cheaper (and often less feature-packed). version of the service. Actually, according to the BBCSeveral lawsuits filed by organizations such as the Norwegian Consumer Council and Public Citizen in the US allege that Amazon Prime’s cancellation process has been revoked. manipulates consumers to keep their subscriptions. So be prepared.
