You’re probably pretty aware of it, but your battery will degrade over time. Spares multiply, lose efficiency, and batteries lose their capacity. Basically, after a few months your 3000 mAh battery will only make 2500. Then several problems arise.
The first is obvious: your smartphone no longer displays the correct percentage on the screen. And it can quickly become frustrating, especially in a professional setting, to think that when we actually have only 5 batteries left, we have 30% left.
These indicator errors are actually due to the reduced autonomy of your battery. We already charge our smartphone at least once a day, so imagine with a half-rotating battery. Loser. Fortunately, there’s a way to give your smartphone’s battery new blood: calibrate it. There are two methods, one for rooted models and the other for non-rooted smartphones.
How to Calibrate or Recalibrate Your Android Smartphone’s Battery
Calibrate your Android smartphone battery without root
If your smartphone is not rooted, calibrating your battery is quite simple:
- Completely empty your smartphone until it closes
- Try to open it again. If nothing else, fine. If it turns back on, keep turning it on and off until it’s fully cooked.
- Connect your smartphone to a power outlet, if possible, with an official or approved charger.
- Let it fully charge. When it tells you that charging is complete, leave it plugged in for a full hour.
- Unplug your smartphone and turn it on.
- If it does not show 100%, the battery is not calibrated. Then reconnect your smartphone until 100% is displayed. Restart. Repeat this procedure until it initially shows 100%.
- Bravo, your smartphone battery has been calibrated!
Calibrate your Android smartphone’s battery with root
It is simpler to use for rooted smartphones. Just install a wonderful and magical little application. One of the most popular for calibrating your battery is “Battery Calibration” which you can download here:
Here are the steps to follow after the app is downloaded and installed:
- Let your smartphone completely discharge. Open and close as needed until completely flat.
- Plug it in and turn it back on.
- Launch the battery calibration app and wait for the smartphone to charge to 100%
- Press the “Battery calibration” button
- That’s it, your battery is calibrated. Isn’t it great?
You see, it’s not that complicated. You are here with a brand new battery. Obviously, if you have any questions or comments, you can do so in the comments section to share them with other readers. And in the USA!
