Most of us are already aware that Valve’s Steam is the world’s largest digital distribution platform for video games. It’s just as important as Amazon for almost all gamers who buy games digitally. There has always been a huge issue with digital game purchases, especially in a country like India where the majority of gamers are young people who don’t really have a credit/debit card. Again. It looks like Steam has taken this issue into account as they only offer a Cash on Delivery option for Indian customers. Although this new payment option has been available for the past few months, most people are still not even aware of it due to the low-key rollout. So, if you’ve ever used your parent’s credit/debit cards to make Steam purchases, you may want to take advantage of Cash on Delivery. Without further ado, let’s take a look at how you can buy games on Steam without a credit card:
Buying Steam Games Without a Credit Card
Steam’s new Cash on Door payment option has been made possible with the help of Valve’s partner in India, Novaplay. So, even if you’re making the purchase through Steam, Novaplay staff will take care of the rest. So, to purchase Steam games using cash on delivery, simply follow the steps below:
- First of all, log into your Steam account and navigate to: “Shopping centre” in the section desktop client. Now find the game you want to buy and click it. “Add to Basket”.
- Here you can buy the game for yourself or as a gift to your friend. Whatever option you choose, you will be able to purchase the game using Cash on Delivery.
- In the next menu, you will be able to choose the payment option you want. Choose from the drop-down menu “Pay at the door” Click as payment option and “Go on”. If you have other credit/debit card information stored in your Steam account, you can change them in seconds.
- Now you will be able to preview the purchase, but you will have to go to the Novaplay website to complete the transaction. click “Continue Novaplay”.
- Here, enter your correct shipping information so that Novaplay administrators can contact you to receive the money as soon as possible. When done, click on “Go on”.
Well, that’s pretty much all you need to do to purchase games on Steam using Cash on Delivery. However, this payment method has its fair share of disadvantages that I would like to address. First, even after Novaplay visits your place to collect cash, Allow a maximum of 72 hours for the game to be added to your Steam library. However, it usually doesn’t take that long as I get my purchased games the same day after payment. Apart from that, if you want to return one of the games you purchased with this method, the amount you pay will be added to the Steam walletthis is a big drawback because it can’t be used anywhere else.
Buying Steam Games Using Gift Cards
Another way to shop on Steam without requiring a credit/debit card is to use physical gift cards. These physical cards have digital codes that can be used online in the store. Once used, the money will be added to the user’s Steam wallet. These gift cards are available worldwide and if you have no idea where to get them, check out: official support website for all the details. So, if you’ve purchased a new Steam gift card, simply follow these steps to quickly redeem it online:
- Sign in to Steam and click “Games” Located in the top menu, Click Now “Use Steam Wallet Code”.
- You will now be asked to enter the code found on your physical gift card. Enter all numbers correctly and click. “Go on” to confirm the transaction. You will immediately notice that money has been added to your Steam wallet, which can be used to purchase games.
