While there are a ton of Bluetooth speakers that can improve your iPhone’s volume and quality, sometimes you need a quick and dirty method to make your iPhone’s speaker louder. Here are some cheats you can use.
Let’s be real: Bluetooth speakers are costly, and you don’t even have $50 for a decent Bluetooth speaker because you spend all your savings on other iPhone accessories, apps and games from the iTunes App Store. So where does that leave you?
Fortunately, there are ways to increase the volume of your iPhone’s speaker using items you probably already have around your house.
The iPhone’s speaker just gets too loud, or at least Apple only lets it get that loud. Sometimes you want to listen to music while you are in the shower or preparing dinner, but even if you turn the volume all the way up, you may not be able to hear the music from running water or the mixer.
Fortunately, there are several methods you can use to amplify the sound of your iPhone speaker without having to buy a Bluetooth speaker.
Use a Glass
Everyone has a glass at home (or at least you should). You might think these mechanisms are made only for consuming your favorite beverage, but they can also be used to increase the volume of your iPhone’s speaker.
Placing your iPhone in a glass can increase the volume tremendously. Make sure the bottom of the iPhone is attached first.
Music from the iPhone’s speaker will bounce off the bottom of the glass and bounce off the larger opening at the top of the glass, creating a sort of megaphone effect. This will also muffle the music a bit, get rid of the natural high treble from the iPhone’s speaker, and add some “virtual bass” if you want. If you don’t believe us, try it yourself – it only takes a few seconds to install.
Use a Bathroom Sink
Similar to using a glass as a megaphone, placing your iPhone on your bathroom sink can also increase the volume of your iPhone’s speaker.
This is a little easier and quicker than the drinking glass trick as you don’t have to go looking for glasses or anything else. Also, the eco-y nature of the bathrooms alone can increase the volume even more. The sound quality will not be better as it is the same speaker that delivers the music, but the volume should be much higher.
Also, although many users may see this as an obvious statement, it still needs to be said: dry sinks and not when wet or as water in it. Water and electronics don’t mix, and if you decide to put your iPhone in a wet sink, you’ll quickly learn that the hard way.
Use Pringles Box
If you’re feeling a little crafty and in the mood to do something, maybe turning a regular Pringles box into an iPhone speaker booster is for you.
Project incoming crushableand it requires you to have an empty box of Pringles, two large binder clips, toilet paper, tape and scissors.
All you have to do is cut a slit towards the bottom of the Pringles box where your iPhone will slide into. Then take the binder clips to the sides of the Pringles box to prevent them from slipping. If you’re curious about toilet paper, simply fill it loosely and evenly inside the Pringles box. This is to drown out the “phone” echo you’ll inevitably get when playing music from the Pringles box, so toilet paper is an essential component of the project.
Once everything is put together you can spray paint it to give it a neat look and blend in with your home decor or leave it as is to make it look truly DIY.
