Sometimes you get calls from spammers or your ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend keeps texting and doesn’t go. In iOS 7, there’s now an easy way to block a number from contacting you via voice call, text message, or FaceTime chat. Users can create their own blacklists if you wish and simply cut ties with these people who are annoying.
In iOS 7, there are several ways to prevent someone from contacting you, and we’ll show you the different ways you can make sure you never hear from a spammer again.
How to Block People?
To prevent a number from contacting you, there are two ways to block it. The first way is done in the Settings app and you can select a contact from your contact list to block. If this is an unknown number, you can block it via the Phone app, which we’ll show you shortly.
This first path is through the Settings app. Open it and scroll down until you see , and . These are three different sections, but from here on, the instructions are the same for each. Tap one and then go to . Tap on it and select a contact you want to block from your contact list. Repeat this step for Messages and FaceTime.
How to Block Unknown Contacts
To block an unknown phone number (likely your spammer or annoying ex-boyfriend), open the Phone app and tap the tab at the bottom. This will give you a list of all your recent incoming and outgoing calls. Each number on the right has a lowercase “i” next to it and a circle around it. Tap that and scroll down until you see it. Apple will warn you that “you will not receive phone calls, messages, or FaceTime from contacts on the blocked list”. If you don’t mind, tap on it to finish the job.
For what it’s worth, the above method will also work with your known contacts, so technically, you don’t even have to go to the Settings app to add a blocked contact; you can do it all directly from the Phone app. But both methods are at your service and you can decide which one is faster and easier for you.
