From Trello to Zoom, you can add any third-party app to Microsoft Teams, and the integration is pretty deep. In this article, we show you how you can add third-party apps to Microsoft Teams and take your productivity to the next level. With that in mind, let’s move on to the steps now.
Add Third-Party Apps to Microsoft Teams
There is three places Where you can add third-party apps in Microsoft Teams: Sidebar, where apps will be available only to you; Tabs where applications will be shared with the whole team; The chat window where the apps will be open to everyone in your team and instantly offer you third party service within the group conversation.
All three ways have their own benefits, and you’ll learn the use case as you dig deeper. Anyway, I’ll start here with how to add third-party apps to the Microsoft Teams sidebar.
1. Click the 3-dot menu on the left sidebar and select “more apps“.
2. On the next page, you will be redirected to hundreds of third-party applications. Now, open your favorite app and click “Add” button.
3. Within seconds the app will be available in the sidebar. you will have to sign in with your account and then you can use it under Microsoft Teams. As I said earlier, all apps in the sidebar will stay with you and will not be shared with the entire team.
4. As for tabs, “Teams” window and click the “+” button. Here you will find many first-party services, including Word, Excel, and more. If you scroll down, you will find several third-party apps.
5. Click the desired app to add it to Microsoft Teams. Apps under tabs Shared with the entire Team. However, for third-party services, they will need to sign in with their separate account.
6. A great feature of Apps under Tabs is if a service is not available, add as website. Just click on “Website” and enter the URL. Now the website will always be available under Microsoft Teams. This is great, isn’t it?
7. Finally, it’s coming Chat apps, open the “Chat” window and click the 3-dot menu on the bottom bar. Here, click on “Other Apps”.
8. You can now add any third-party app to chats in Microsoft Teams. For example, you can add the “Images” application to: search images quickly while chatting with your teammates. This will save you a lot of time.
