During the holidays and Christmas season, many of you will get new smartphones and tablets, play with new devices, and even share your Nexus 7 with your brother or other extended family members. The last thing anyone wants is for their little niece to spend $15 downloading a few games or apps from Google Play. So protect it with a password. Here we will show you how ridiculously simple it is to add a password to the Google Play Store.
There are many reasons to ask for a password on the Play Store. First, you don’t want kids or a family member to spend money on that app or game you’ll never use or play. You never know what will happen when you hand over a Nexus 7 to family members, especially if it passes through 4 different cousins like mine this will be Christmas. Second, if your device is lost or stolen, you don’t want someone to buy music, apps or movies from your Google account.
Add Password to Google Play
Adding a password to the Google Play Store is actually extremely easy. Obviously, having lock screen security on a device is the first step in case it’s stolen, but in other cases like the holidays, you’ll also be asking for a password on the Google Play Store. There’s one simple setting you’ll want to check, that’s it, your Google account associated with that device will be the password in use. This will be required before any app is downloaded or purchased.

Users can add or remove a password to Google Play within seconds. It’s super simple, just follow two quick taps from the screens below. To get started you need to find the Google Play Store icon shown below. It’s in your app tray or usually on the first screen of any sold Android device.
Once in Google Play you will start by pressing the menu (three dots in the top right) or the dedicated menu button on your device. For most Galaxy devices, this is to the left of your home button. After pressing the menu, you will tap “Settings” in the Play Store app. Then, you’re just a checkbox away. It’s that simple guys. To enable or disable this feature, which is your regular password for the Gmail account associated with the device, you must confirm the password. The password you made when you first set up the device.
Go to Play Store as shown above and tap on Settings and look at user controls and check the password option. From here you will enter the password and you are done. The next time you or anyone tries to download a game or purchase a song, you will be asked to enter a password. Make sure you don’t check the “don’t ask me again” box when the password popup appears in the settings, which strangely defeats the purpose of this option.
