Your Xbox Live profile is your game calling card. With the latest software updates, you can add your own image to that calling card. Xbox Live and Xbox One finally have Exclusive Gamer Images.
Xbox Live is the service that connects every Xbox One console. Other players will see your Gamerpic when you sign in to your Xbox Live account. Gamerpics appear in the upper-right corner of your screen, in your messages, in your Achievements log, and in every friend request you send. For years you could only use an image of your Xbox Live Avatar or one of Microsoft’s gaming-themed photos.
It’s nice that this picture can now be the way you want it to be. Here’s how to add a custom Gamerpic to Xbox Live.
Your ways of adding Custom Player Images are limited. The Xbox Beta app on Windows 10 accepts them. However, this option is not available in the Xbox apps for iPhone and Android. Microsoft says Custom Gamerpics will eventually come to Xbox One consoles.
Make sure the custom Gamerpic you’ve added to your Xbox Live account is online friendly. If not, the Xbox App Team will ask you to change it when someone reports it as inappropriate. If you repeatedly post inappropriate photos, you may be prevented from using a picture as your Gamerpic again.
Don’t worry about getting banned for adding a Custom Gamerpic like some Xbox 360 users do. Microsoft’s addition of Custom Gamer Pictures to Xbox Live means you don’t need photo editing programs or profile cheats to upload your picture.
Lets start.
Download the free Xbox Beta app at Windows Store. You don’t need an Xbox Insider Program membership for the app to work, as anyone can use it. Both free and paid Xbox Live members can add a custom image.
Tap or click .
After the installation is complete, click or tap the button in the notification on the side of the screen. If you miss the notification, you can open the application from the Start area. It will be listed along with any other applications and programs on your computer that start with X.
Tap or click in the upper left corner of the Xbox app.
Click at the top of the menu and your Gamerpic.
Tap or click the button.
Tap or click the button next to your Gamerpic at the top of your screen.

Use the file field to select the image you want to use as your Custom GamerImage.
Now use the onscreen tools to customize your image. Player images are always circular, so the app will crop everything around the edges. The slider at the bottom of the window lets you zoom in and out to capture only what you want. Drag the picture with your mouse to make sure that what you want to capture is in the center of your Gamerpic. Click or tap when you’re done setting up your photo.
If you’re having trouble with the appearance of your Gamerpic, tap or click.
Click now.
Microsoft says it’s verifying if custom Gamerpics are OK before they show up on your profile. Sometimes the change is instant, but that is not always the case.
Xbox Live users do not need to stick to a dedicated Gamerpic. Switching between Custom Gamerpic, Avatar picture, and Microsoft’s pre-made Gamer Pictures is possible from the profile areas on Xbox One, xbox.com or any Xbox app. You will need to upload an old Custom GamerImage if you add a new one that you no longer want to use.
