One of the biggest improvements OnePlus has introduced with its 2019 smartphones is the high refresh rate displays that offer users a fluid experience. The OnePlus 7 pro, OnePlus 7T, and OnePlus 7T Pro feature a 90Hz display that makes the experience smoother when playing games, scrolling through apps, or simply navigating the UI. The benefits of the 90 Hz display are something that cannot be explained, only experienced face to face. And believe me when I say that a screen with a high refresh rate is phenomenal. However, the feature comes with a huge penalty in terms of battery life. OnePlus lets you keep the screen in 60Hz mode to save battery life, but this is buried deep within the Settings app. To make life easier for you, we will show you how to enable the 90Hz refresh rate toggle on the OnePlus 7/7T Pro.
Enable Screen Refresh Rate Fast Toggle
While I’ve already mentioned the battery life implications of using a 90Hz refresh rate, some users might not be bothered by it as they can charge their phone multiple times a day. Considering the ultra-fast charging speeds of OnePlus devices, no one can blame you if you want to use the phone in 90Hz mode all the time. You can use it to quickly switch to 90Hz mode whenever you want, as the quick toggle will allow you to easily switch between 60Hz and 90Hz refresh rate. However, here are the steps to enable the 90 Hz refresh rate fast toggle.
Adding the 90Hz Toggle to the Quick Settings Page
1. First, we will install the application we need to activate this fast switch. Well, Click the link to visit the GitHub page and download the app. If this is your first time installing an external APK on your phone, it may ask for permission. Let it install the app on your phone.
2. After installing the app, it adds the 90Hz refresh rate toggle to your Quick Settings panel. to find it, Lower the Quick Settings panel and then tap the edit button. Now, hold and drag the 90 Hz hot toggle to show it in your Quick Settings panel.
Once done, tap the back button to save the changes. If you tap the 90Hz fast tuning toggle, you’ll see nothing happens. This is because we need to grant permission using ADB first.. If you don’t know anything about ADB, go to our quick ADB installation guide for Windows and Mac and install the tool on your device first. Once installed, follow the steps to enable 90 Hz crossover.
Enabling 90Hz Refresh Rate Toggle Using ADB
1. First, we will need to enable “USB Debugging” on our OnePlus 7/7T Pro. To do this, launch Settings and then open “About Phone”. Here, Tap “Build Number” 6-7 times until you see “Developer Options Enabled” Message.
2. Now search for “USB Debugging” and tap on the first result. Activate the toggle by turning it on. If you can’t find it in search, go. Settings -> System -> Developer options -> USB debugging and enable it.
3. Now, connect the OnePlus device to your laptop. Start Windows CMD Prompt/macOS Terminal and run the following command. If you installed ADB correctly will show your device in “Added device list” section. just as shown in the picture below.
adb devices
When your device is listed, run the following command to grant the necessary permissions For fast switching to work.
adb shell pm grant me.molonosov.oprefreshrate android.permission.WRITESECURESETTINGS
4. That’s it. Your quickswitch now works. You can verify it by tapping the toggle. It turns blue every time you use the 90 Hz screen refresh rate. Tap again to switch back to 60Hz refresh rate if you want.
