How to Access Apple Notes from Lock Screen on iPhone and iPad

They say, “Lethal ideas come when you least expect them”. That’s why I always keep my favorite notes app ready to jot down thoughts or map the mind as soon as something valuable comes to the fore. Fortunately, iOS (and iPadOS of course) offers a quick way to access Apple Notes directly from the Lock screen on iPhone and iPad. So instead of unlocking the device and entering the note-taking app, it’s much easier to open Control Center and then start with a new note or the last one. Does it sound efficient? Let’s get this awesome feature in action now!

Access Apple Notes from the Lock Screen in iOS 13 and iPadOS 13

To get started, we’ll first add the Notes app to the Control Center. Once this is done we can start a new note or access the previous one according to the customized settings. Just in case you’re wondering if your device will support this feature, let me tell you it works fine even on older iOS versions like iOS 11 and 12. Now exit the Settings app. In the future, you can access Notes using the control center on your device.

  • On iPhone and iPad with Face ID: Swipe down from the top right corner to bring up the Control Center. Now, tap the Notes icon to get started.

  • On iPhone and iPad with Touch ID: Swipe up from the bottom of the touchscreen to open the control center, then tap the Notes icon to start a new note or pick up where you left off.

Choose to Start a New Note or Resume the Last from the Lock Screen

By default, iOS lets you start a new note. However, you can choose to continue your final grade. Save this little tip for when you want to work on certain notes consistently.

  • Closed: Disable Notes access from the lock screen.
  • Always Create New Note: Select to start a new note from the lock screen.
  • Resume Final Note: Select to continue with your final note.

if you choose “Continue the Final Note”, you will have the option to access the last note created on the lock screen or viewed in the Notes app. Go with your preferred option based on your needs.

There is also an option to choose the time period for which you want to create a new note. To give a little more security to your data, choose shorter durations as they are a little more secure.
