First announced last year, Amazon will begin selling the Ring Always Home Cam starting September 28, alongside the new Ring Alarm Pro, Blink Video Doorbell, and many other products. There are only two caveats: Access to the Ring Always Home Cam is currently invite-only and won’t ship until later this year.
The new Ring Always Home Cam is an autonomous, indoor security camera that essentially means a flying drone attached with a Ring camera on the bottom. With it, you can keep track of what’s going on inside your home even when you’re away. This is because the device streams 1080p video to your smartphone via the Ring app, allowing you to check in on intruders or make sure you don’t leave the stove on too soon.
Owners can also set up pre-selected routes for the drone to fly. The device also integrates with a Ring Alarm security system, so if your alarm goes off, the drone will fly on a preset route to check on what’s going on. Plus, you don’t have to worry about the Ring Always Home Cam running out of battery while you’re away; Once it’s finished flying around your house, the drone will automatically return to its dock to recharge, like most modern robot vacuums today.
