What is a smart key?
The smart key is a physical button integrated into the right edge of the Honor 7. It is very discreet as it has almost the same dimensions as the fire button of the smartphone.
Smart switch allows Honor 7 user to configure custom actions (Application launch, quick photo taking, screenshot, etc.) according to physical key presses. Three types of presses can be configured: single press, double press and long press.
How to configure Honor 7 smart key?
One of the advantages of the Honor 7 is that its menus are extremely easy to use. To configure the smart switch, go to: Settings and then scroll down To find the “Smart Key”.
You will discover a simple interface with a diagram below three possible pressures to configure: tap, double tap and hold. By default, no action is configured.
To configure each pressure type, simply touch the corresponding section. You will then choose between the two sections. This “Shortcut” section or “Open App” section.
In the first section, “Shortcut,” you can therefore choose between five different actions:
- Number
- quick shot
- sound recording
- Flashlight
- Screenshot
In the “Open Application” section, you will access all apps installed on your smartphone games, business apps, social networks, etc. The smart switch will actually turn into a fast app launcher.
For example, to demonstrate this tutorial we chose to configure the smart switch as follows:
- Press once gives access to Messages
- Pressing twice activates the flashlight
- Pressing and holding starts the camera
