Hide/Show App Store Purchases on iPhone, iPad, and Mac

Maybe you’re dealing with an indomitable sibling who never loses a chance to spy on your App Store purchases. Or maybe you want to keep your favorite apps and games private so no one can discover them. Whatever the reason for your privacy, you can hide/show iOS and Mac App Store purchases at your will. If you don’t know where to start the process, let me guide you through the step-by-step breakdown. Here’s how you can hide and show App Store purchases on iPhone, iPad and Mac.

What’s the purpose?

When you hide an iOS or Mac app, it doesn’t appear to have bought it – this is a drawback (more on that later). Also, if you use Family Sharing and hide apps, they are also hidden from your family members. It’s also worth repeating that when you hide a Mac app, you won’t receive update notifications about it and you won’t find it on the Account screen of the Mac App Store.

  1. Open app store On your iOS or iPadOS device.

2. Now, make sure Today tab is selected. Next, profile in the top right select and Purchased.

Note: Just in case, you Using Family SharingTap your name to access your purchases.

3. Next, select All or Not on This iPhone/iPad Select the tab according to your need. After that, swipe left on an app or game and To hide. Repeat for all other purchases. Finally, be sure to tap on it. Completed.

Note: As a member of a Family Sharing group, if you hide an app you subscribe to, the group’s organizer will still receive a fee notification when the subscription is renewed. Also, keep in mind that hiding an app does not terminate a subscription.

Show Apps on iOS and iPadOS

The only way to show your iOS or iPadOS apps is to redownload them.

1. Open app store on your device > Today tab > profile picture.

2. Now, tap . profile again.

Note: A pop-up window may appear asking you to enter your Apple ID password. Type your password to continue.

3. Scroll down and tap on it. Confidential Purchases option under iTunes in the cloud episode. Next, tap on cloud button Next to the app you want to redownload or show again in the purchased section.

Hide App Store Purchases on Mac App Store

  1. Start app store on your Mac. Make sure you are logged in.

2. Now, click Your name located in the lower left sidebar.

Click on your name located at the bottom of the left sidebar.

3. Next, you should see all your purchased apps. Hold the pointer over a specific app and three dots. Next, select Hide Purchase.

Click on the three dots that appear.  Then select Hide Purchase.

Note: If you’re using Family Sharing, select your name next to it. Purchased option to access your purchases.

4. Finally, click on Hide Purchase in the confirmation message. Repeat for any other Mac apps you want to hide.

Show Apps in macOS App Store

Showing apps feels a little easier on macOS.

  1. Open app store On your macOS device.

2. Now, profile name at the bottom of the sidebar.

Click on your name located at the bottom of the left sidebar.

3. Next, click on View Information in the upper right corner.

Select View Information

Note: When prompted, make sure you’re signed in to your Apple ID account.

4. Scroll down Hidden Items Click on the section and to overcome.

Go to the Hidden Items section and click Manage.

5. Next, click on show next to an app. Next, click Completed.

Click Show

Request! The app will now start appearing in your Purchased list.

Voluntarily Hide/Show iOS or macOS Store Purchases

So you can keep your purchases out of sight on your iOS and macOS devices. It’s nice that Apple offers an easy way to keep personal items away from prying eyes.
