Nexus 7 owners who still haven’t received the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update and want to get the update right now will want to try a simple trick to install the update.
Two days ago, the Nexus 7 Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update started rolling out for owners of Google’s 7-inch Nexus tablets. While not comprehensive, the update brings some bug fixes, improvements, and the ability to rotate the home screen to landscape mode. Bug fixes and stability improvements are obviously big things here, but the ability to switch the home screen to landscape mode is pretty cool.
But two days after its launch, Nexus 7 owners who haven’t rooted their device are still complaining about the missing update. How can I know this? I am one of those owners. I couldn’t pull the update until about 20 minutes ago and I’m stuck on Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean.
.
Yes, I plugged it into the charger.
I am now the proud owner of a Nexus 7 running Android 4.1.
Here is the method I used to immediately download and install the Android 4.1.2 update on my Nexus 7.
1. Go to Settings -> Apps -> All
2. Find Google Services Framework.
3. Tap Force Stop.
4. Select Clear Data.
5. Go back to Nexus 7’s Settings, go to About and check for System Update.
When you get back there, the year must be in the 60s. Check for an update and you’ll probably get a prompt to install Android 4.1. The installation process is pretty quick as the update is just over 30MB. And besides the new landscape orientation, the content of the update is hardly noticeable.
However, for those experiencing bugs, this is probably the software that will delete them.
The Nexus 7 tablet, Google’s first Nexus tablet, was the first device to feature Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and now that it has Android 4.1. It will be Android 4.2, which Google may reveal on October 29 alongside the new Nexus smartphone manufactured by LG. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Enjoy the bug fixes and new feature Nexus 7 owners.
