After years of rumors and speculation, Dr. Dre is back, albeit not with the album that many have been waiting for.
Famous rapper and producer, Dr. Instead of Dre’s Detox, Eminem released an album called Compton, a compilation album featuring big names like Ice Cube, The Game, and Xzibit. Its release comes a few days before the release of NWA bioptic, Straight Outta Compton.
On 1 August, Dr. Dre has announced that he will release his brand new album exclusively on iTunes and Apple Music. This move is sure to disappoint users on other platforms, but it makes a lot of sense: Dr. Dre is an Apple employee.
Earlier today, Dr. Dre and Apple have released Compton on iTunes and Apple Music, and iOS and Mac users who have installed the appropriate software can now listen to the album for free for several hours. Unfortunately, Apple Music and iTunes don’t make it easy to find.
on iTunes How to Find Dre’s Compton
Dr. Dre’s Compton will be streamed on iTunes via the Apple Music app for a limited time. For the next three hours (6PM-9PM PST), you can stream the album and its 16 tracks on your Mac, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch if you know where to look. The album takes an hour.
You need to download the latest version of iTunes on Mac. If you don’t want to download the latest version of iTunes, you will need at least iTunes 11.1 to access the Radio feature. The album is broadcast on iTunes Radio.
After installing the correct version of iTunes, you will want to follow this link. This will open a page in your browser. It should bring you to a screen with a bright blue button that says Listen in iTunes. It looks like the screenshot below.
When you click this button, iTunes and Dr. Dre’s Compton will open and the playlist should start playing in your iTunes player.
If you already have the correct version of iTunes and want to skip this step, you can launch iTunes and click the “New” tab. Once there, you will see a pink button that says “Listen Now”.
You should be able to skip songs for three hours, but once those three hours are up, the stream will end. (Note: Some people have told us that they cannot skip songs in iTunes so it may not work for you.)
Dr. How to Find Dre’s Compton on iPhone
Dr. If you want to listen to Dre’s Compton on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, you must have Apple’s iOS 7 update installed before you can access iTunes Radio. We recommend downloading the iOS 8.4 update, which includes the company’s new Apple Music app.
Once there, you’ll want to click on the “New” tab located in the navigation bar at the bottom of the app. You can see it in the screenshot above.
When you click New, Dr. You should see a grand opening image for Dre’s album premiere. All you have to do is click Listen Now and it will launch the album on your device.
In iOS 8.4 we couldn’t skip tracks on iPhone, so if you want to get moving you’ll want to try iTunes.
Once the three-hour period has expired, you must purchase via digital download on Apple Music or iTunes. The album will be on sale from tomorrow.
Apparently, Dr. Dre’s Compton will also be released on CD, although it has a release date. Coming soon on August 21.
