Apple Watch relied on fully paired iPhone to download and update apps. While the process wasn’t complicated, it never felt simple. Fortunately, those days just got better! With watchOS 6 or later, you can download and update apps directly to your Apple Watch, both manually and automatically. If you haven’t tried it yet, let me guide you through the quick guide.

Installing and Updating Apps Directly to Apple Watch

Just like its iOS counterpart, watchOS lets you check the ratings and reviews of any app before downloading it, so you can make an informed purchase. There is also an option to automatically update apps as well as download the Apple Watch version of an app you have installed on your paired iPhone. Having said that, let’s get started with quick steps!

Install Apps Directly to Your Apple Watch

  1. To start, app store The app on your Apple Watch. Alternatively, you can ask Siri To start the application

2. Tap now. call Select , and then select the preferred method to make the call. You have two options to choose from:

3. After dictating or scribbling, tap . Completed and then tap on Buy or Price.

Note: Make sure to check the reviews if you don’t want to come across a wrong app. To do this, tap on Ratings & Reviews and then scroll down to see them.

4. Tap on “Password”. After that, choose the method you want to enter the password. You can enter the password using your iPhone’s keyboard or scribbling.

5. In this test, I will type the passcode using my paired iPhone. When you tap the keyboard, you will get a notification on your iPhone. Tap on it and then enter your password. Finally, tap on Completed on your Apple Watch or Return on your paired iPhone.

Update Your Apple Watch Apps

  1. start app store and then scroll down.

2. Tap on Account and Select updates.

3. On this screen you should see the apps that need to be updated. To update a specific app, tap on it. Update button so right next to it. To update all apps at once Update All button.

Turn On Automatic Downloads

Many iPhone apps are also available for Apple Watch for a seamless experience. With auto-download turned on, you can automatically download an Apple Watch version of an app you installed on your paired iPhone.

Automatically Update Your Apple Watch Apps

Just in case, if you don’t want to update apps manually or you find it a bit of a tedious task, you can turn on auto-update to automatically download the latest version of apps to your smartwatch.

  1. Hungry Settings Select the app on your Apple Watch, and then app store.

How to View Your Purchased Apps in the App Store on Apple Watch

Once in a while I like to keep track of purchased apps using the purchased list. It is also useful for re-downloading previously deleted apps. That’s why I’m really glad that watchOS 6 makes viewing purchased apps as simple as iOS.

1. Open app store Swipe down on your Apple Watch.
