Change Time to 24 Hours on Android

Changing options and settings on Android is extremely easy once you understand the general steps required, and changing the screen clock format or type is something we’re always asked.

Whether you’re getting used to getting up at 06:00 and going to sleep around 2200 or choosing to set your smartphone to military time (24 hours), it’s just a few steps away in settings on our Android smartphones and tablets. A lot of people also refer to this as passenger time, which eliminates AM/PM and has users going from 0100 to 2400 instead. Read on for instructions on how to quickly change this.

The settings on our Android smartphones are very easy and simply laid out. Usually go to the settings tab and scroll through each and you will find what you need. However, if you want to quickly learn how to change your watch to military time, or if for some reason your Galaxy S3 has switched to a 24-hour clock and you don’t know why, here’s how to change this setting.

Instructions

You’ll start by going to settings on your smartphone or tablet, usually located in the app tray as a gear-shaped settings icon, or also in the notification drop-down shade. Once you’re in settings that look a little different from each manufacturer, you’ll get down to the Date and time settings. This can happen in a “device” or “system” tab on Galaxy devices.

Go to Settings > Date & time > and tap “Use 24-hour format” in the settings menu.

Once selected (as shown at the top of the page), your phone or tablet will instantly switch to the 24-hour time zone without a reboot or anything. You will go from 9:30 to 09:30 or 14:00 will be 1400. Of course this settings menu is where you will uncheck the 24-hour format if your smartphone displays a 24-hour clock for some reason. and you prefer it to be regular instead.

This same settings menu is also home to tons of other date and time related options if you want. You can set the phone to automatically select the date and time based on your location and network connection; this helps you auto switch while traveling. For those who prefer the day to come before the month or vice versa, there is usually an option to choose the date format.

This is one of those simple settings that many users don’t take the time to look for, but are easily accessible once you take a look. Change the settings as you like and enjoy.
