With the iPhone 4S, you don’t need one of the millions of tip calculator apps, just ask Siri.
Siri can find the tip on a bill and go even further by rounding the total up or down so you don’t have to do the math on a full stomach.
While Siri is usually pretty good at understanding what you want in natural language, I’ve found that you need to be very precise when asking her to help you determine how to split a tip or a bill.
How to Calculate Tips with Siri
Press and hold the home button until Siri activates.
“What is a 15% tip on $51.76?” say.
Obviously, this is where you use the tip you want to leave and the amount of your bill. Don’t get hung up on the tip amount, as Siri and Wolfram Alpha will show you tips at varying intervals.
Siri will show the amounts rounded up or down for various common tip percentages, and if you swipe down you can even see the full breakdown of the tip.
How Can I Split an Bill with Siri?
The tip number can also be used to split a bill, including tip, among a group of friends.
Add “for six” to the end of your question, or whatever the number of people in your group.
Siri not only calculates the tip, it also tells you how much tip each person should leave and the total amount each individual must leave to meet the bill.
