Audible is one of the popular audiobook platforms. For such a popular app, Audible’s interface is surprisingly confusing and simple. When I set up and started the service to check it out, I found that a few key features were missing, especially for iOS users. That’s why many users like me can’t find or view their wishlist in the Audible app.
The wish list is a great feature that you’ll also find on Amazon’s e-commerce site. It’s a useful feature that can help you build a buffer of books you might want to read in the future. Let’s understand where Audible wishlists are, how they work, and what else you can or cannot do with them.
Where is my Audio Wishlist
Android users need to open the Audible app and tap the three-dot menu icon on the left to select the Store button.
This will reveal more options, and Wish List is one of them. Tap on it to view the wish list.
Audio Wish Lists are not available on iOS and there is no dedicated desktop app. Lots of users complained about it but still no luck. Maybe in a future update. I don’t like the iOS app at all. I signed in using the same Amazon ID as on Android and for some reason Audible treats it as a brand new ID and asks me to subscribe. I’m not a double subscriber.
One solution is to log in and use a browser to find the book you want to listen to. Not the best solution but still works.
Speaking of browsers, you can easily access the Wish List located at the top in the header area. Easy to find and accessible.
How Many Wish Lists Can You Create?
You cannot create multiple wishlists in Audible. To create a wish list, all you have to do is add a book, any book, to the wish list (more on that in the next section). Amazon allows users to create multiple wishlists on their eCommerce platform, not Audible. It is strange. Unless you’re sharing your Audible account with someone, most users don’t need two lists to manage audiobooks. In this case, it becomes necessary. Amazon needs to pay attention to this feature, right?
How to Add Titles to Wish List
Adding titles to wish lists works the same in both the web and mobile apps. Let’s take the browser first. Tap the title to open it and select the Add to Wishlist button. You will find it just below the purchase options.
If the book has already been added to the list, you will see a blue button that says In Wish List. Selecting this will not remove the title from the list as I expected. Instead it took me to the Wishlist menu. Again an odd UI choice.
The same steps will apply to Android and iOS apps. Open the book title and tap Add to Wish Button and you’re done. Interestingly, there is an option to add to wishlist in iOS, but no way to access the list later.
How to Remove Titles from Wish List
Open the wishlist on your Android to find a list of all the titles you’ve added.
Tap the three-dot menu icon next to the book you want to remove to reveal a pop-up menu bar with a Remove button. Tap on the book to remove it.
The Remove from Wishlist button is easily visible in the browser state. Right next to the book.
How to Share an Audio Wish List
Unfortunately, this is not currently possible. You cannot share an Audible wishlist. There is no way to share even a favorite book with someone directly other than texting their name. It will then need to manually search for the book. It would be much easier if I could recommend a book or share a link to the same book from the app itself. This is on my wishlist, not Amazon’s. Also, you cannot link your Audible account to Goodreads to share updates on your listening activities and reviews, or to recommend books to your friends.
How to Sort an Audio Wish List
Any book you add to the wishlist is added by date. Thus, the most recently added book will appear at the top of the list. You can view the date the book was added just before the Price column in the browser.
Click the Date Added text button to sort the first or last added books. There is no other way to sort them by rating, release date, or otherwise.
Mobile apps don’t even have this option, which means you can’t sort books in the iOS or Android app.
Your wish is my command
Audible’s wishlist feature is a mess. It works best on Android, while the iOS version leaves a lot to be desired. Even the Android version is easy to share, create multiple lists, etc. Could do with some improvements. But there is little we can do other than asking and waiting for Amazon and Audible to develop this feature. Until then, make do with what you have or use an alternative like Scribd.
