Appear Offline on Discord

If you want to browse Discord without notifying others, you can easily set your status offline from the app. Unlike WhatsApp and Skype, you have full control over how you appear on Discord.

Here’s how you can appear offline on Discord.

Appear Offline in the Discord Desktop App

Let us show you how to appear offline in the Discord desktop app, then we’ll do the same from the Discord mobile apps.

Stage 1: Open Discord on Windows or Mac.

Step 2: Find and click your profile icon at the bottom.

Stage 3: choose Invisible and you will see the green indicator turn gray.

It is an indicator of your current offline status in the Discord app. Don’t worry about app functionality though. With its invisible status, you will have full access to all Discord features.

Appear Offline on Discord Mobile Apps

If you’re on the go and want to check the latest updates from the Discord server without any disturbance, you can also set the Invisibility status from the Discord mobile apps.

Both the Discord iPhone and Android apps use the same UI. We’re showcasing the Discord iOS app. You can follow the same steps in the Discord Android app to appear offline.

Stage 1: Open the Discord app on iPhone or Android.

Step 2: Go to your profile tab at the bottom.

Stage 3: Select Set Status.

Step 4: Tap Invisible from the submenu.

Status Types on Discord

Let’s talk about the different types of statuses that can be used on Discord.

Online: This is the default Discord status. Open the app on a desktop or mobile and the app will show you online. You will see a green indicator next to your name on Discord. This status lets others know that you are actively using Discord and are available to chat.

Idle: As the name suggests, Idle status indicates your inactivity on Discord. If you’ve opened Discord on the desktop but are away from the desk, the app will change your status from online to idle.

Once you open the Discord app and start communicating with others, the service changes your status back to Online. You’ll see a yellow moon icon next to your Discord profile picture.

Do not bother: Discord’s DND status works similarly to our phones. You will not receive new notifications when you enable DND status in the Discord app. A red circle will appear under your account picture in the app. When you enable DND mode, everyone will see your busy status and annoy you.

Invisible: This is basically a private mod on Discord. You can continue to browse Discord without notifying anyone of your activity or status in the app. When you want to catch Discord server updates without being bothered by messages from others, you can appear offline in Discord and go about your business.

Why Do You Want to Appear Offline on Discord?

Maybe you want to focus on a specific task or discuss an important issue with someone on Discord and you don’t want to be beaten by messages from others. You can enable Invisibility on Discord and go about your business.

The offline mode also allows you to play games without having to reply to incoming messages. No one will point out your ignorance as they don’t know about your online status in the app. In the meantime, you can stay in the loop with relevant conversations.

Set Exception on Discord

Users also have the option to set an exception on Discord. Maybe you are on vacation or away from the desk for a while. You can set a corresponding automatic exception to clear after a certain time. Here’s how you can use it.

Stage 1: Open Discord on desktop.

Step 2: Click on the profile picture and select Set private status.

Stage 3: Give the state a name, then select a timeline you want to delete.

Step 4: Choose a default state and press the Save button.

Be Anonymous on Discord

Sometimes you don’t want others to know about your online status and disrupt your Discord broadcast with direct messages and sayings in the app. You can set your status to invisible and continue to use the app with full access.
