Android 5.0.1 Lollipop: How to install OTA update on your Nexus?

how to install update

  • Download and install ADB, Fastboot and Android drivers in this link
  • Move the ZIP file of the update you just downloaded to the ADB Fastboot folder
  • Turn off your Nexus and restart it in bootloader mode by pressing keys Power + Volume Down
  • choose “Recovery Mode”confirm with the “Power” key using the volume control keys
  • Press the “Volume up” key while holding the “Power” key
  • choose “Apply update from ADB” and confirm with the “Power” key
  • Connect your Nexus to your PC
  • Go to the ADB Fastboot folder where you transferred the ZIP file and click a command prompt (Shift + Right click)
  • Type the following command, replacing “filename” with the name of the file you just downloaded.

adb sideload

  • When the update is complete, select “Restart” in the recovery menu
