Unlike Google Home, Amazon Echo lets its users’ imaginations run wild. Like the famous automation app IFTTT, the Alexa app lets you automate your home environment’s interactions. you go choose a triggeran action and a series of reactions that trigger another.
Here’s how to create Routines with Amazon Echo
For example, it’s possible to program your connected light bulbs to turn on when you start your connected vacuum cleaner and trigger them to turn off when you say “good night”. You can even go a step further and recreate movie lines: program your speaker to respond. “no it’s impossible” if you confirm it “I am your father” (I hope you have reference). We explain how it works:
- download Amazon Alexa app On Google Play Store or App Store (if not done yet)
- open app
- Tap the 3 white bars in the upper left corner of the screen
- enter inside routines
- Click the + sign in the top right
- Select a trigger (Clicking the + sign to the right of When it happens)
- You can choose a voice command recognized by Amazon Alexa, a time and repeat, or a connected device.
- Next, select the next action to trigger (by pressing the + button to the right of Add action)
- When done, confirm by clicking Create
- wait a few minutes
- Check that the routine is running using the selected trigger
You are free to add as many actions as you want as you set up the routine. For example, you can integrate your daily flash reading, music playback, weather or road traffic report on Spotify. To delete the routine, simply press the 3 small dots in the top right while in the configuration menu.
