How to Allow Image Uploads in Response in Google Forms
Often times, the creator of the form asks the user to upload images or another type of file in response to a response. Fortunately, this is possible in Google Forms. The files will be saved to your Google Drive account.
To use this feature on mobile or desktop, add a new question to your Google Form. Click or tap the question type drop-down box. Select File upload. Accept the terms if prompted.
Enable Allow only certain file types because you want users to only add images. Check the box next to the picture. Select the appropriate options under Maximum number of files a user can upload and Maximum file size. This much. User will see Add file option in frontend. See our detailed tutorial on how to upload files in Google Forms.
Pro Tip: If you don’t want users to add images directly to your form, create a question and ask users to add a link for their image from Google Drive. Image links will be saved in the Google Spreadsheet. Learn how to save Google Form responses to different pages.
How to Add Images to Google Forms on Desktop?
There are three ways or situations where you can add images to Google Forms.
Method 1: Add Picture Before or After Question
Sometimes you want to include an image that explains what comes before or after the question. In such cases, you can add an image along with the image caption. Users cannot interact with the image in this scenario. It is for informational or explanatory purposes only.
To add such images, click on the Image icon from the right-hand panel in Google Forms.
The Add image window will open. You can add an image from your computer, instantly take a photo using the device’s camera, add from URL, Google Photos, Drive or even Google Search. Click the picture you want to add and click Add to add it to the form. Once the image is added, add the image caption if you want.
Method 2: Add Picture as Question
Now, if you want to add an image to be a question, that is also possible. To do this, add a question or import a question into your Google Form. Hover your mouse over the question title. In the far right corner you will see the Image icon. Click on it.
Select the picture you want to add. Enter your question in the available box and, if necessary, edit the image as shown in the Edit Image section below.
Method 3: Add Image as Response
Similar to the method above, you can add images as your response options. This will only work for Multiple Choice and Checkbox question types. So choose either of these two as your question in Google Forms. When the options appear, hover your mouse over the option and you will see the Image icon on the right. Click on it and add the picture you want.
Pictures will be resized automatically. Instead of Option you can add a caption for your images.
The order of the answers can be mixed if desired. To do this, hover your mouse over the text Option. A 6-dot icon will appear on the left side of the picture. Use to drag and change the position of the picture. Alternatively, click the three-dot icon below the question box and select the Shuffle option row.
