Amazon Echo, Amazon EchoDot, and Amazon Tap allow their owners to do hundreds of cool things using Alexa voice commands. Users can play music, listen to audiobooks and get the day’s news for a few popular names. However, there are some lesser known Skills that may not come to mind right away. We looked through the long list of Skills and found the 50 coolest things you can do with the Amazon Echo, Tap or Dot. These also work on a newly updated Amazon Fire TV, thanks to the voice feature on the remote.
Using Built-in Alexa Skills
Amazon continues to add new third-party capabilities as developers build them, but they’re also adding built-in capabilities. These work for all Alexa users. Here is a list of the most useful built-in Alexa skills.

How to Add Alexa Skills to Your Echo, Dot, Tap or Fire TV
Before using some of these Skills, the user must add them to their account for the Skill to work on their device. Open the Amazon Alexa app and tap the menu button in the top left corner of the app.
A menu scrolls from the left side of the screen. Tap on Skills to open the Skills list. Each page lists ten Skills and the app displays more than 60 pages of Skills. Search for the Skills list using the search box at the top of the list to narrow things down. This is the best way to find the Skills listed below.
If you try a Skill and don’t like it, tap Disable and this will turn it off so Alexa won’t use it again.

Meat Butler – “Ask Meat Butler to help me prepare a steak” will give you the right temperature to cook meat sous vide or grill.
Packet Tracker – Threshold will help you track shipments based on what they find in your email inbox using services like Gmail, Yahoo, Exchange, iCloud, and IMAP.
Magic Door – An adventure game of the kind we played in the early days of computers. It includes three adventures – a forest, a garden and an ancient temple.
Area Code Search – Ask the Area Code “where is eight two eight” and it will tell you it is Northwest North Carolina.
bargain mate – Informs the user about daily deals from Woot and Meh shopping services.
