10 Common iOS 17 Problems and How to Fix them

As we move away from the release of iOS 17, we’re starting to hear about bugs and performance issues in Apple’s new operating system.

iOS 17 went through a long beta process, but the problems unsurprisingly spread to the official version of the iPhone.

The current list of iOS 17 issues includes abnormal battery drain, Wi-Fi issues, UI lag, crashes, and installation issues. Many of these issues are brand new, while others are inherited from iOS 16.

While some of these issues will require Apple to fix them in the new version of iOS 17 or a visit to your local Apple Store, some issues can be fixed in minutes from the comfort of your home.

How to Fix iOS 17 Installation Problems

If you’re having trouble installing iOS 17, there are a few steps you can take.

If your phone is on and you’re having trouble loading the operating system, here are a few more solutions.

“Unable to Check for Update. “An error occurred while checking for software update” or “Unable to Install Update”. If you receive the warning “iOS 17 update requires network connection”, try the update again. You can also try updating using a different network or your computer.

If iOS 17 installation doesn’t complete, try connecting your iPhone to a power source.

How to Fix iOS 17 Freezing

If your iPhone crashes and stops responding, here’s how to fix it.

How to Fix iOS 17 Battery Life Issues

If you encounter battery life issues after installing iOS 17, check out our list of fixes.

If nothing in this guide works, there’s a chance your battery is bad. If you determine that this may be the case, you will need to contact Apple regarding a replacement.

How to Fix iOS 17 Bluetooth Problems

If you can’t connect your iPhone to a Bluetooth device after installing iOS 17, here are a few solutions that have worked for us in the past.

First, try forgetting the Bluetooth connection that is having problems on your iPhone. Here’s how to do this:

If that doesn’t work, try resetting your iPhone’s Network Settings:

This process will take a few seconds to complete. This will also cause your iPhone to forget known Wi-Fi networks, so be sure to keep your passwords with you.

You can also try resetting your iPhone’s settings to factory defaults. Here’s how to do this:

Bluetooth problems can be difficult to resolve; If none of these solutions work, you may need to contact Apple’s customer service or the company that manufactures the product you’re trying to connect.

How to Fix iOS 17 Wi-Fi Issues

If you’re noticing slow Wi-Fi speeds and/or your connection keeps dropping, here are a few solutions.

If you’re using your home Wi-Fi network, try unplugging the router and/or modem for a minute before plugging them back in.

If you can’t access the router and/or modem you’re connected to, or if you’re sure the issue has nothing to do with your router/modem, go to your iPhone’s Settings app.

How to Fix iOS 17 Cellular Data Problems

If you see the “No Service” icon and/or your iPhone can’t connect to your cellular network, here are a few steps you need to take.

First, make sure there are no cellular outages in your area. Check social media for reports and/or contact your service provider via social media. We recommend you check Down Detector To see if others in your area are experiencing similar problems.

If you determine that the problem is not caused by a network outage, you will want to restart your iPhone and see if that fixes the problems.

If you still can’t get it to work, try turning Cellular Data off and on. Here’s how to do this:

If nothing works here, it may have something to do with your account. If you think this may be the case, contact your service provider.

How to Fix iOS 17 FaceTime Problems

If you’re having trouble making or receiving FaceTime calls, Make sure Apple doesn’t have problems with service. If there is a green icon next to FaceTime, the problems are on your side.

First, make sure your iPhone is properly connected to Wi-Fi or cellular network. So make sure FaceTime is turned on:

If FaceTime is on and you’re connected to Wi-Fi or cellular, try restarting your iPhone.

If you’re having trouble connecting via FaceTime over a cellular network, make sure cellular data is turned on for FaceTime. Here’s how to check this:

How to Fix iOS 17 GPS Problems

If GPS starts working after upgrading your iPhone to iOS 17, try restarting your phone before doing anything else.

If that doesn’t work, you can try turning Airplane Mode on and off. If it’s still working, go to your location permissions and make sure you allow the app or apps to use GPS:

How to Fix iOS 17 App Problems

If one or more of your apps stops working after upgrading to iOS 17, here are a few things to try before contacting the developer.

First, try restarting your iPhone. If this doesn’t improve the app’s performance, you’ll want to check the App Store for an update. Developers are still rolling out iOS 17 support updates, and downloading the latest version of the app may help.

You can also try deleting the app and downloading it again.

If you can’t fix the issue yourself, contact the developer of the app and see if they know about the issue. In such a case, there may be a manual fix or ETA for an update that will fix the problem.

How to Fix iOS 16 Random Reboots

If your iPhone randomly starts restarting itself, here are a few fixes you can try before contacting Apple.

First, restart your phone. If you haven’t turned off your device for a while, this may fix the problem.

If you still see random reboots, update all your apps and see if that fixes the problem. Otherwise, you may need to contact Apple’s customer service.

Downgrade

If you can’t fix a problem and can’t wait for the next version of iOS 17, you can try rolling back to the previous version if the option is available. This can help you improve your phone’s performance.

Restore as New

If your phone is really struggling with iOS 17, you can try restoring your iPhone to new. You can do this via Finder, iTunes or iCloud. This should only be used as a last resort.
