Windows 11 does everything to make video games stand out, especially through innovations like automatic HDR, Storage Direct, or the Xbox app that is now installed by default. Microsoft wants to go further By including this app in Widgets.
Indeed, the new Windows 11 build 25174 has been released. It is currently dedicated to Insiders of the Development channel. It mainly brings bug fixes and tweaks here and there, but also Inclusion of the Xbox app in widgets.
Xbox app reaches Widgets
This Widget lets you see at a glance News about the Game Pass service, like the most recently added games or the next games that are no longer available. It will also highlight games that will please you and even let you see reviews online if you’re not sure. Interesting fact: If you click on this Widget, it will open an application directly, not a web page (like others). Microsoft is taking great care here to make its ecosystem stand out once again.
As a reminder, Widgets are included in custom icon (can be disabled) or by pressing Windows + W. It will be possible to add one to the taskbar in a future update. New available games will then automatically appear on your screen. It’s still much simpler than manually opening a private window, right?
For now, Microsoft has not given a release date for the arrival of the Xbox Widget for the general public. However, all new features found in Windows 11 beta versions coming next October with big update. Microsoft plans to enrich the operating system with a major update every year. Windows 11 has been available since October 2021 and is free for all Windows 10 users.
