Once you reach Professor Onai’s quest, you’ll need to know where to find the troll bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy. It will ask you to field-test Depulso on a raised enemy and summon a troll bogeyman. The first is easy enough as you need to find any old enemies to cast a spell. But the troll is more specific, and this part may leave you hanging if you can’t find one. Fortunately, there is an easy way to find a troll, catch the bogeyman and complete this quest, so let’s see what your options are.
This is similar to a few goals, such as when you need to find Mandrake locations or complete the Ghost of Our Love quest, which is all you need is one location. It should be simple enough and yet here we are…
Where to find troll bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy?
You can find a Troll’s lair north of the Forbidden Forest and north of Feldcroft. You will also fight someone at the end of the quest ‘The Helm of Urktott’, which is a quest you have to take at the same time as the quest.
To elaborate further: You will receive Professor Onai’s assignment the day after you complete your first attempt. He’ll ask you to field-test Depulso on a hoisted enemy and collect troll bogeys. Most importantly, the assignment specifically says that your field guide won’t show you where to go.
There are several options you can use here, including a few troll bunkers you can search for and a shop where you can buy them. The easiest method, though, is probably to take on the ‘Urktott Helmet’ quest. You’ll get this at the same time as the quest, when you wake up after the first try, and while there are several steps, the last one ends up in a troll fight that should get you what you need.
If you don’t want to do this, there is a Troll lair at the northern end of the Forbidden Forest and you can fight a Jungle Troll. Just go here on the map:
There’s also another troll lair north of Feldcroft with a River troll you can take down:
You can also buy troll bogeys from a shop in Cragcroft, but this is far below the south end of the map in Cragcroftshire. So you probably won’t be anywhere near him at the point where you need the boogeyman in the story.
The release of Hogwarts Legacy has been the subject of criticism and controversy due to JK Rowling’s public stance on gender identity, which continues to question the inclusivity at the heart of the Harry Potter community. Here is our explainer Hogwarts Legacy controversy.
