Knowing where to scratch in each episode of Stray is essential if you want to earn the Territory trophy and at the same time live your best cat life by destroying things with your claws. However, this is not an easy task, because while some chapters have multiple Stray Scratch locations that are obvious, even story-dependent and necessary for progression, there are other places that have the only possible place you can draw, and if you miss it then it’s time for another chance to Smash You will have to replay the level. To save you from unnecessary searches or trackbacks, we have a knowledge of where to doodle in each section of Stray, and while this list is not intended to be exhaustive, it will highlight all the opportunities you need to complete this task.
How to itch on Stray
Look out for items like trees, rugs, walls, and doors with interaction prompts on them to scrape in Stray. When you see one, press the button and your cat will take up position, then squish the trigger buttons to go to town with your paws. Sometimes this interaction lasts for a few seconds before automatically ending, for example, when you draw a door and get a response, while in other cases it continues indefinitely until you back off. At least try to scratch for a few seconds before exiting manually to make sure this action will count towards your progress.
After jumping to the two steps at the beginning of the section, draw the tree trunk on your left.
After dropping the can of blue paint to break the window and get inside the building, drop one of the rugs in the first room and scratch it.
Inside the room where the computer terminal is located, you will find another rug that you can draw in the main living area.
After talking to the Guardian and calming the robots, enter the garage with the meditating robots and scratch the carpet. There are several other opportunities in this episode, including the gateway to Elliot Programming as part of his quest to find the Stray secure code, and Momo’s apartment before handing over all the Stray Notebooks to further the story.
Right at the beginning of the chapter, there is a rug in front of you that you have to draw.
Back in Momo’s apartment, there’s a rug you can draw straight in front of you, plus you have the same opportunities at The Slums as on your previous visit. This is your last chance to get the Stray energy drink cans and find all the Stray notes for Morusque, so don’t miss out on these collections before continuing.
In Doc’s lab, next to the desk with the Defluxor on it, there’s peeling wallpaper to scrape off.
After breaking the two panels to open the big door, go straight up the stairs and look for a piece of cardboard on the floor to the left.
Next to the tree branches on the bottom floor is a sofa that you can draw next to one of the Stray Memories. As you explore the treehouse further, you’ll find a number of other woods and rugs.
When you pass Peacemaker 22106 and go up the stairs to Midtown, there is a door you can draw at the end of the green marked alleyway on your left. There is also a sofa in the open residence just across the street. Half of the Stray Badges can be collected in this section, so don’t miss these opportunities when they appear.
To access the door opening near the end of the episode, scratch the side of the truck when you find it in the yard.
When working with the B-12 to open the control room door, you need to draw the inside of the control panel when it opens by interacting with the input pad.
Congratulations, you’ve found (and dragged your claws over) all Stray Scratch locations to win the District trophy.
