The Game Awards faux pas? Nominee asks for his name to be removed from the award

One of the biggest awards in the world of games is involved in a recent controversy.

After announcing the award nominees, The Game Awards was approached by one of the finalists who made an unusual request.

The individual in question is requesting that their name be removed from the awards list. This information shocked the gaming community.

After all, the award organization is being pressured to include new names that were unfairly left out.

The person who requested the withdrawal was coach Remy “XTQZZ” Quoniam. He was nominated in the Best Esports Coach category, following the Vitality team’s victory in ‘Counter-Strike‘, which took place at Blast.tv Paris Major 2023.

Why was this request made, anyway?

The big problem with this situation is that “XTQZZ” was not the team’s coach during the aforementioned championship. In fact, the person performing the role was Danny ‘zonic’ Sorensen, also nominated in the same category.

Remy’s reaction was immediate. As soon as he noticed the confusion, he immediately found a way to speak out.

“Let’s be serious here. I wasn’t even a coach this year… take me off this list”, he said.

One of the explanations for what happened is the fact that ‘XTQZZ’ helped Team Solid return to ‘Counter-Strike‘, but left the team two months later to join Team Vitality.

The truth, however, is that he did not play any matches as a member of the team in 2023 and, therefore, should be left out of this year’s awards.

Was the order accepted or not?

To date, production of The Game Awards has not yet commented on the situation. Furthermore, there is still a need to take a stance on a complaint made by Xbox players.

They are outraged by the absence of ‘Starfield’, the company’s biggest release in 2023.

The game was not nominated in the Game of the Year category. The only mention was in the Best RPG category.
