
We mentioned the possible integration of an OLED display into the Steam Deck in our columns back in March 2023. At that time, an official from the manufacturer announced that such a model was not on the agenda yet.
We had to wait a few more months to finally see the arrival of the OLED Steam Deck, much to everyone’s surprise. In fact, Valve has confirmed that this new version will be released on November 9, 2023. As a reminder, this version is therefore a 7.4 inch OLED screenstill in the definition phase 1280×800 pixels. On the other hand, the refresh rate increases to: 90HzThis allows you to reach 90 FPS in your games.
Also, the plate is now HDR compatible and covers 110% of the P3 color space with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits (compared to 400 nits in the previous model). The mod’s creator states that it runs under SteamOS 3.5.7 (Uncertainty regarding other versions remains). Before installing this mod, we recommend that you be prepared to restore your Steam Deck by creating a recovery image, especially if the process goes wrong and your console is experiencing major problems.
