Even though Nintendo has been completely focused on the Switch line in recent years, the company’s latest moves have shown us that this wasn’t the only thing it was working on over the years. Recently, the Nintendo 3DS received an update whose main purpose is to improve performance in the hands of users.
Do you remember it? The Nintendo 3DS is a portable console, the successor to the Nintendo DS released in 2011. This is one of the consoles that brought several innovations to the user experience, with emphasis on 3D technology without the need for special glasses.
This new version is 11.17.0 and is now available for download. The update can be downloaded by connecting the console to the internet.
According to the patch note, the only change is “general system stability improvements to improve the player experience.”
However, the company has not released any further information so far. It is not yet known how large the update will be in megabytes or whether there will be new updates in the future.
However, it seems that there is a possibility that this update will be maintained as long as there are still titles and services that use an internet connection, probably until they are discontinued.
What happened to the Nintendo 3DS?
In this sense, it is important to note that the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U have been officially discontinued by the company. These products have had their production completely halted. Even the eShop activities have been terminated.
For those who don’t know, the eShop was an online store where you could buy games and apps. Even with this new update, the company is focusing its efforts exclusively on the Switch. Currently, the Switch is the third best-selling video game console of all time.
