Steam: PS4 and PS5 controllers are finally fully compatible, here’s what will change

If you already play PlayStation with a DualSense or DualShock controller but also want to try PC games, we have good news for you. Steam is now fully compatible with these controllers. Previously these were not always recognized as PlayStation controllers.

The latest Steam patch will integrate, define and provide the input API for PlayStation DualSense and DualShock controllers. Thus, it provides the necessary tools to game developers and information to its users. So we should have more features for PlayStation controllers on PC.

Also in your personal game library, All products that support the controller you are using are marked as such, to catch your attention in case you missed it while browsing through your game collection. Controller filters are also available.

If you’re wondering why Valve is so keen on controllers despite being primarily a PC platform, the blog explains that too, stating:Approximately 12% of active Steam players use a controller regularlyand in some games the numbers are much higher: in some popular ball games, 80% of their players can use controllers instead of keyboards, and in some RPGs, more than 50% of players do the same. While Xbox controllers are by far the most popular, almost 27% of controller gamers today use a DualSense or DualShock. Therefore, it becomes urgent for Valve to make its platform compatible with Sony controllers.
