In 2020, Roblox Corporation, the company responsible for the popular online game “Roblox“, suffered a fateful incident that only recently came to light. This incident involved a serious data leak, affecting not only the company but also the players, among them children as young as 13 years old.
The information compromised in the breach was highly personal, including users’ emails, birth dates, custom jersey numbers and even home addresses.
The situation became even more worrying when it was discovered that developers’ data was exposed on a public platform.
According to the Roblox Corporationthe leak occurred due to third parties who were in charge of storing and protecting this information. This revelation caused outrage among affected users, who expected the company to have taken more robust measures to ensure the security of personal data.
The most alarming concerns resulting from this leak are the potential identity theft and increased blows targeted at affected users. With emails and other personal data compromised, affected individuals can become easy targets for fraudulent and criminal activity.

Initially, Roblox Corporation chose to remain silent about the incident, not issuing any official statement to inform users about the leak or the measures that were being taken to deal with the situation.
Finally, after the release of the leakthe company began sending emails to notify users and provide information on next steps to take. However, many felt this action was too late, wishing the company had been more proactive in addressing the issue.
As a way to repair the damage caused, Roblox Corporation offered just one year of identity protection to affected users, in addition to an apology.
This response was considered insufficient by many, due to the potential risk to security and privacy of customers. The lack of more substantial compensation left many users feeling neglected and undervalued by the company.
