An intriguing story in the world of technology and gaming came to light recently, with the capture of an investor who managed to raise more than US$400,000 using an Xbox 360.
If we converted the value according to the current quote, it would be almost R$2 million, more specifically R$1,981,480.
Anthony Viggiano, 26, used confidential information from Goldman Sachs, where he worked, to guide his investments with his friends.
Communication between them took place through different means, and they even decided to use the Xbox 360’s voice chat for their transactions.
However, the FBI managed to secretly record Viggiano admitting to passing along illegal information, possibly through the console.
Additionally, Viggiano used encrypted messaging to alert partners to investment opportunities.
To this end, he considered the Microsoft console’s voice chat as an ideal method to avoid detection, believing it would leave no trace.

Anthony Viggiano, Christopher Salamone and Stephen Forlano are under investigation for insider trading and collusion to acquire ChannelAdvisor, a company that provides e-commerce and digital marketing.
In this regard, the FBI alleges that Viggiano and Forlano communicated via email and temporary messages on Instagram, but Viggiano was identified using audio chat from a console.
The crucial discovery occurred when Salamone, without Viggiano’s knowledge, recorded a conversation and turned it over to the FBI, revealing details of the communications.
Despite the apparent difficulty in recovering the Xbox 360 voice chat audio, the recording delivered by Salamone was important to the investigation.
Viggiano faces multiple charges, including securities fraud and conspiracy and others, which could result in up to 165 years in prison. His accomplices may receive reduced sentences if they cooperate with authorities.
Microsoft, in turn, plans to close the Microsoft online store Xbox 360but it is unclear whether voice communication services will be affected by the closure.
