Attention, gamers! Recently, the Riot Games and startup AcadArena have announced a joint project. With this, the two companies intend to promote meetings and interactions with gaming communities formed within universities spread throughout Brazil.
The project aims to expand Riot Games’ connection with university students. Actions include ongoing activities, such as tournaments between major student organizations and the holding of a hackathon at Riot studios, professional training for students who want to work in the industry.
Plus, of course, there will be the classics watchparties for the CBLOL final, Valorant Champions, in addition to Worlds, which is the world championship of “League of Legends“.
The project will also distribute in-game prizes to the winners and gifts to all participants throughout the events. More than 200 sports teams have already confirmed their presence on the AcadArena platform.
All of Brazil will be able to have fun playing: USP, UFRJ, UFSC, UFS, UFG, among others, are already some of the confirmed institutions.
The first part of the project is the Alliance Cup, a tournament held by AcadArena that can be played in different modalities, namely: “League of Legends” (LOL), “Teamfight Tactics” (TFT) and “Valorant”. Registration for this first phase is now open at official site of the Alliance Cup.
The championship will feature an initial qualifying stage in groups for the games “League of Legends” (“LOL”) and “Valorant”. The best-placed competitors will advance to the next phase, in which they will be organized into groups and proceed to the playoffs until they reach the exciting grand final.
As for the “Teamfight Tactics” (‘TFT’) tournament, it will be divided into two parts, with group stages and knockout rounds. The long-awaited decision of the Alliance Cup is scheduled to take place on December 9th.

Diego Martinez, general director of Riot Games Brazil, in an interview, spoke a little about the partnership made by the company with AcadArena:
“The partnership is extremely strategic for us because it allows us to increase the reach of our actions to the community in the country. We want to deepen our connection with college players wherever they are. Not to mention that it helps to expand the level of college competitions,” he said.
In addition to the Alliance Cup, this collaboration will also provide support to university students who are engaged in organizing their own independent tournaments, known as Inters.
In this event model, each entity is responsible for designing its own tournaments, establishing the rules, choosing the modalities and planning the calendar, always supported by partner companies. More than six events related to Riot Games are scheduled until November.
In addition, events will be promoted exclusively with a focus on fun, without an emphasis on competition, such as Aces, which are dedicated to integration and interaction between student groups, including activities such as watch parties and special award ceremonies.
The incentive to students will not be limited to eSports. One hackathon is scheduled to take place at Riot Games headquarters during the week of the grand finals, involving real cases.
At this event, developers, designers and gaming enthusiasts will have the opportunity to collaborate on designing innovative solutions, aiming to improve the player experience and raise standards of excellence.
The general manager of AcadArena Brasil, Tomás Macul, talks about the positive impacts of the project can bring to university students:
“We believe that this connection will have a super positive impact on students, whether through experiences planned to improve some special fundamentals, through the recognition of behavioral habits that for years went unnoticed, or through the long-awaited professional development in the gaming universe, which for many materializes the realization of a dream, by being able to participate in activities and dynamics on campus driven by Riot Games”, he comments.
