PS6: version will be set for 2028 according to Microsoft

The litigation surrounding the Microsoft takeover of Activision has already been an opportunity to learn a lot about Microsoft and Sony, and this has just brought to light a crucial piece of information: the expected release date of the next-gen home consoles.

Microsoft submitted a 77-page document to the US court to defend its bid to take over Activision Blizzard, which the US Federal Trade Commission is trying to stop. This probe Microsoft hints at a potential 2028 launch date for next-gen consoles: the next Xbox and PS6.

PS6 may arrive in 5 years

Referring to a ten-year agreement with companies like Valve and Nintendo (which was also offered to PlayStation and declined) to bring Call of Duty to non-Xbox platforms, Microsoft noted: This deal will also allow Call of Duty to appear on the next PlayStation, which is expected to come out in 5 years.

In another document from the lawsuit, Sony mentioned another similar date, meaning everything points to the PS6 coming long before the end of the decade. This means that the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 should have a lifespan of about 8 years.roughly what we’ve experienced in previous generations.

It’s worth noting that during the FTC court hearing, Microsoft didn’t reveal any details regarding either console, only the expected 2028 release date. Elsewhere, the lawsuit was an opportunity for Sony to voice its concerns about the takeover and argue that if Microsoft were to take over the studio would not give the details of the PS6 to Activision. This means The next PlayStation-specific features probably won’t be so well integrated into Activision’s games. more than it would be with publishers that do not belong to the console manufacturer’s main competitor.
