PS4 error codes and how to fix them

If a PS4 error code is causing you some problems, you may need to know what it means or what causes it. Error codes on console can be caused by bugs in games or even network issues on PSN that may be beyond your control. While some error codes can be sorted by a nifty trick, you may need to be patient and wait for a fix update or network issues to resolve themselves. We keep track of the error codes that occur for PS4 and try to find the cause of their occurrence and the latest fixes to eliminate them. PS4 error SU-30746-0

“System software update failed.”

This SU-30746-0 PS4 error code may appear when your PS4 console fails to install the latest firmware update. Fortunately, PlayStation Support has its own recommended steps for you to follow to resolve this error code, especially if restarting your PS4 did not resolve the error code:

1. Make sure your PS4 is connected to the internet with a wired connection to your router, preferably using an ethernet cable.
2. Go to ‘Notifications’ and delete all update files by pressing the Options button and then selecting ‘Delete’.
3. Now go to ‘Settings’ and select ‘System Software Update’ to try reinstalling the update.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll need to manually update your PS4 using a USB driver and Safe Mode on your PS4. Before starting this method, make sure you have a FAT32 USB storage device with at least 500MB of free space and have access to a PC or Mac. You can read all the details on how to do this. 1. Download PS4 console update file Take it to your USB drive and save it as “PS4UPDATE.PUP” in the “UPDATE” folder you created.
2. Plug the USB drive into your PS4 and boot the console in Safe Mode by holding the power button and releasing it after the second beep.
3. Safe Mode option 3: Select ‘Update System Software’ then select ‘Update from USB Storage Device’

PS4 error SU-42481-9

“System software update failed.”

Curiously, this PS4 error code is the same as SU-30746-0 and therefore can be fixed in the same way. You should refer to the instructions above to see how to fix this failed firmware update error code, but to summarize, you should try restarting your console, deleting the update files from the Notifications menu, or manually updating your PS4 using a USB drive.

PS4 error code SU-42118-6

This error code could be a sign of a problem with your PS4 hardware, especially a bad ribbon connection, rendering your console unusable. If you can still use your PS4, try some simple steps to fix the problem first – restart your console or check for system updates, for example. If these don’t work, you may need to backup your data and do a factory reset on your PS4.

PS4 error code E-8210604A

“An error occurred with the payment.”

This PS4 error code appears, perhaps when a PS Plus subscription or a payment for a game on the PlayStation Store fails. While this is a temporary issue that will resolve itself in some time, you should try these steps to check that it’s not a payment issue on your end:

1. Check that the credit or debit card information registered to your account is correct and valid – make sure your card has not expired!
2. Try re-registering your credit or debit card. Note that if you register or delete your card information multiple times within a short period of time, you may be prevented from adding payment information.
3. If possible, try using another credit or debit card.
4. Add an available PlayStation Store card to your PlayStation Store wallet and pay using the wallet, but this will not apply to all purchases.

PS4 error code CE-36329-3

“An error has occurred in the system software.”

If this error code has appeared, your PS4 may have experienced a data corruption issue. Here’s what you can try to fix it:

1. Make sure you have the latest version of PS4 System Software installed by going to ‘Settings’ and selecting ‘System Software Update’. Your PS4 will then reboot.
2. If you can’t get to Settings, try using Safe Mode option 3 on your PS4 to update the System Software.
3. If that doesn’t work, back up your saved data so you don’t lose anything, then go to “Settings”, then “Startup” and select “Start PS4”. Alternatively, you can use Safe Mode option 6.
4. If this error code continues to appear even after following these steps, you should contact PlayStation Support as there is probably a more serious problem with your PS4.

PS4 error code WS-37469-9

“Error connecting to server.”

This error code may appear if your PS4 has a connection problem, but it may not be on your end. First, check PlayStation Network status page To see if PSN is turned off. If PSN is down, you need to be patient and wait for it to come back online. However, if things are working in that direction, it could be your internet connection that is causing the issues. Try turning off your router, waiting at least five minutes, and then restarting it.

PS4 error code WS-37398-0

This PS4 error code usually occurs during PSN server outages and prevents you from logging into the network. As with the previous error code, you should check the PSN status page to see if the service is down.
