
According to a recent report from Gamesindustry.biz, developers have been advised not to expect Nintendo’s next console, currently called “Switch 2,” to launch before April 2025.
This information comes from journalist Chris Dring, who revealed that none of the studios he spoke to were planning to do so. A launch in Nintendo’s current fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2025. In fact, they were reportedly explicitly told not to expect a launch before that date.

This news may disappoint some, but it does align with Nintendo’s previous statements. The company confirmed in May that it would announce its next console in the current fiscal year, but did not specify a release date. Nintendo may be prioritizing a soft launch over a rushed launch, and that could be the strategy the company is implementing.
