Spectre Divide Devs Reduce Weapon and Character Prices Due to Player Feedback

The creators of Spectre Divide artfully responded to player discontent by significantly lowering the prices of weaponry and character adornments within the game. This decision stemmed from a wave of disapproval voiced on Reddit and Discord, where players vented frustration over the lofty costs of in-game cosmetic items.

Upon the game’s unveiling on September 3, 2024, players were hit with astonishment at the pricing, with some bundles demanding as much as $90 USD. This sparked an immediate wave of backlash within the gaming community, drawing swift comparisons to Valorant mere hours after release. Many players adamantly pledged to abstain from making purchases until prices reflected more reasonable valuations.

In a recent pronouncement via Discord, the game’s director acknowledged the misstep with grace. “We took a bold swing in efforts to fortify the game’s foundation,” the director mused. “It appears our swing soared past the mark, and thus we are realigning ourselves to resonate with your feedback.”

In response to players’ grievances, Mountaintop Studios has gracefully reduced the prices of various items by 17% to 25%, witnessed notably in the reduction of the Cryo Kinesis Masterpiece bundle from 9000 SP to 7000 SP, and the Medusa Prestige bundle from 4500 SP to 3400 SP.

Despite these modifications, some players maintain a sense of skepticism. The luxurious gun bundle skins in Spectre Divide still boast considerable price tags, even with applied discounts. Acquiring 7000 SP in-game necessitates purchasing both the 5,600 SP and 2,100 SP currency items, totaling approximately $95 USD (converted from GBP). This leaves players with 700 SP remaining, insufficient to acquire any additional items. The arithmetic appears to falter, as the gun skin bundles have not seen adequate reduction.

It appears that the developers at Mountaintop Studios must earnestly ponder their desired reputation – as pioneers of a revolutionary FPS feature or purveyors of exorbitant skins lacking in consumer appeal.
