Phil Spencer Provides Update on Everwild: Release Window Missed, But Game Still in Progress

In a recent rendezvous with XboxEra, Phil Spencer shared an unintentional update on Everwild, Rare’s forthcoming third-person adventure opus that has been curiously absent from nearly every Xbox gathering since its grand debut in 2019. Reports from the year 2025 suggest a complete restart of development from the ground up, with a proposed release in the same year, although Microsoft vehemently refuted such claims.

While the stipulated release timeframe has unequivocally passed, the assurance that the game remains on the horizon is a comforting notion. During the interview, when pressed about an exclusive revelation, Spencer remarked, “It’s heartening to witness the strides the Everwild team is taking.” Further adding, “We’ve afforded these teams the necessary time to refine their craft, culminating in a diverse portfolio that we proudly possess.”

Everwild has been devoid of any trailers or substantial updates since 2020, hinting at a potential departure from its initial unveiling. Originally described as a third-person action/adventure escapade infused with elements of a god game, the current state of Everwild remains shrouded in mystery.

While Spencer refrained from divulging a concrete timeline for the game’s completion, the initial 2025 release projection hints at a potential launch sometime this year. However, the absence of Everwild from the recent Xbox Developer Direct leaves the game’s fate uncertain. If the title does indeed launch in 2025, it is likely to materialize towards the year’s denouement.

The prospect of an Everwild release in 2026 or beyond looms larger as time passes. Alongside the enigmatic Everwild, other longstanding projects such as the new iteration of Fable, the post-Halo Infinite venture, and The Elder Scrolls 6 continue to simmer in development. Despite their protracted gestation periods, these titles harbor immense promise for the Xbox platform and Microsoft at large.
