The forthcoming second substantial update for “Fields of Mistria” approaches swiftly, with a slated release date of March 2025. As the days dwindle down, developer NPC Studio unveils an official date to anticipate, accompanied by a brief clip portraying the dragon Caldarus transforming into his much-anticipated human form, almost certifying the unlocking of the character’s romance questline.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on February 12th, “Fields of Mistria” officially confirms the impending arrival of its second major update on March 10, 2025. This announcement brings much excitement, as it includes a 15-second video clip featuring the farmer and the dragon Caldarus, showcasing the transformation of the latter into a human form at long last.
NPC Studio recently updated its game roadmap, confirming that Caldarus would make an appearance in the upcoming major update. However, the vagueness of this statement left much room for interpretation, sparking speculations about whether the human form of the dragon would be unveiled soon. With the revelation of an official release date and a closer look at what lies ahead, it is evident that players will be treated to a considerable amount of content centered around Caldarus.
Passionate followers of this Early Access title have eagerly anticipated the unveiling of the ancient dragon’s human form, with many theories suggesting that Caldarus could be one of Mistria’s concealed romance options. While any romantic involvement with Caldarus remains inaccessible at the moment, the heart icon displayed in his dialogue box since the game’s Steam release indicates the potential for romance. As indicated on the game’s official website, it appears that this fan speculation regarding Caldarus completing the bachelor lineup is coming to fruition.
A fleeting glimpse of his human sprite in the clip posted by NPC Studio reveals that Caldarus will retain his horns, tail, and earrings even in human form, accessorizing his attire with a red scarf. Presumably, this character infused with Mistrian lore will receive various seasonal outfits like other romanceable characters and NPCs. Judging from his appearance in the video, it is assumed that his winter attire has been unveiled.
With only one character left to romance, players are confident that the Mines Priestess is the remaining mystery date. Currently lacking a heart icon in her dialogue box, like the one displayed alongside Caldarus’ name and other dateable characters, fans believe that NPC Studio will introduce the Priestess’ romance questline in a future update. The anticipation is high, and many are eager to discover what the developer has planned.
